The members of the Gamalath family are celebrating all their different waves of life! While they were in Hawaii, they decided to take beach portraits in Kauai to remember this phenomenal time. We like how these pictures captured the island’s beauty and our charming bunch’s happiness! Most importantly, we know this collection of memories will remind them of their first time at this destination. Continue scrolling to see these images for yourself.

The Gamalath family is a group of seven visiting the island from Anaheim, California! This party consists of Dewmini, her parents, Tissa and Sandya, brother, Imesh, sister-in-law, Chamathka, sister-in-law’s mom, Sriyani, and nephew, Taylen. Our lovely bunch took a tropical vacation to celebrate two significant occasions — Sandya’s sixtieth and Taylen’s first birthday!

However, this lovely group also wanted to commemorate twenty-two years since they immigrated to America! In the beginning, they only had a few suitcases and some cash. Thanks to the sacrifices and hard work their parents did, Dewmini and Imesh have built so much for themselves! Their father, Tissa, worked long nights in gas stations. Then, their mother, Sandya, created a Sri-Lankan catering company out of their garage.

Now, Sandya runs a successful restaurant in Anaheim, California. After working multiple part-time jobs to put himself through school, Imesh works as a manager at a reputable Aerospace company. He is also married and has a one-year-old son. Lastly, Dewmini is moving away for the first time in her life and starting a new job in the Bay Area!

These photos are more than just Kauai beach portraits — they’re going to remind the Gamalaths of how much they’ve overcome!

No first birthday is complete without a cake! Before we ended our session, the Gamalaths brought a sweet treat for Taylen. Although it melted a bit in the car, it still looked beautiful and delicious! We think this little one has the same thoughts because he didn’t smash it. Above all, we captured some of the cutest shots of this one-year-old with his dessert!
