Big Island family photos are always special—but when three generations come together in matching island tones at sunset? Pure magic.
The Hoxeng family made the most of their Hawaiian vacation with a photo session that was vibrant, playful, and overflowing with joy. Think swaying palms, sandy toes, coordinated outfits, and enough laughter to echo across the coastline.
They showed up in shades of green and blue that felt straight out of a postcard. The little ones were full of energy, the grown-ups were all smiles, and the group as a whole? Peak aloha spirit.
Right from the start, the Hoxengs strolled along the beach hand-in-hand, perfectly framed by towering palms and a sky that looked like it was custom-made for them.
This was their first trip together as a full family—and they were ready to soak in every moment. And we? We were lucky enough to capture it all.
Old Kona Airport Beach was the perfect setting for the Hoxengs’ portrait session. With golden hour lighting and the ocean gently glowing behind them, the vibe was effortless island charm.
Amid the action were soft, heart-melting moments.
One couple strolled hand-in-hand with their daughter, caught mid-laugh. A little girl stood confidently on the lava rocks, her smile brighter than the setting sun behind her. Grandparents and grandkids posed beneath the palms, surrounded by love and pure island magic.
Each photo captured a different side of family: the playful, the tender, and the totally frame-worthy.
No stiff poses here—just real, delightful moments. The kids were swung into the air mid-laugh, ran along the shore, and showed off their best shakas. Parents followed close behind, smiling like they’d bottle this day up if they could.
There was so much love in the movement, so much joy in the chaos. It was the kind of session where time feels like it’s moving a little slower, just to let you enjoy it longer.
The Hoxeng siblings and their spouses brought major couple energy to the beach—cue the heart eyes.
Whether they were walking side by side, sneaking a playful glance, or just soaking up the island air together, each couple radiated connection and comfort. There were sweet in-between moments and full-on romantic glow, all wrapped up in that effortless Kona sunset magic. Add in a little sand between their toes, and boom—tropical couple photos unlocked.
There’s just something about parents on vacation—relaxed, smiling, and surrounded by their favorite people—that makes for the best photos.
Mom and Dad were picture-perfect as they walked along the shore, hand-in-hand, like they were straight out of a tropical rom-com. Their smiles said everything. You could see how proud they were to have their whole family in one place, creating memories in the sand and sunset light.
We’re not saying this was one of our favorite Hawaiian vacation photoshoots… but we’re also not not saying it.
From laughter in the sand to golden hour glows, the Hoxengs’ session was full of joy, connection, and tropical fun. If you’re thinking of planning your own family pictures on the Big Island, this is your sign.
To the Hoxeng family—thank you for letting us be part of your island memories. You brought all the aloha (and then some).
