Once known as the statuesque Kilolani Church, the Rustic Hawaiian Ruins are the newest venue offered by our sister company, Simple Maui Wedding. With ancient hand-hewn coral stones and towering palms, this is the perfect locale for Maui wedding photography that’s rich in Aloha and culture. So we figured why not set up a styled shoot to further polish our skills and see what this spectacular venue is capable of! Warning: If you’re wearing a mask while reading this, you may need to find a safe space to social distance and take it off — because these shots will take your breath away!
Originally graced with blown glass windows and a thatched roof, a devastating fire and 100-year flood have transformed this locale into an open-air venue embraced by the natural beauty of Maui. In 1976, the Trinity Episcopal Church by-the-Sea adopted the property and now care for and preserve the historical details left behind from the authentic 1800’s architecture.
For our styled shoot at this incredible new venue, we wanted to create an authentic atmosphere to emphasize the rich history of the site. We were fortunate to work with our talented friends at Dellables, who created a scene of endless greenery, local fruit, and details with plenty of contours and pops to create a stunning setting for our Maui wedding photography!
We couldn’t have asked for a better pair of models to bring all the good vibes and romance for this styled Maui wedding photography shoot! Chelsea and Cody plan to elope in the near future, and they were rocking the romance and chic fashion!
Chelsea’s boho dress brought out the rustic elements of the venue. While Cody’s bold suit drew the eye and added a pop of fun to the whole shoot. And it wasn’t just Cody’s suit that brought the fun! These two were constantly laughing and having a blast in front of the camera. Capturing their authentic smiles had us longing for the day a lucky couple will say “I do” in the midst of this historic and beautiful site.
Chelsea is one of the talented artists at Salon 253, and Adele (the salon’s owner) pampered her locks with this take-your-breath-away beachy hairdo. Waves, waves, and then some, this hairstyle brings out the boho glam of Chelsea’s dress and has us dreaming of sunshine and the salty spray of the sea! Salon 253 offers bridal services via its bridal brand, Salon 253 Bride.
Following the ceremony shoot, we took a stroll down the street to Keaka beach. Located less than two minutes from the venue, this beach offers spectacular backdrops for Maui wedding photography.
A natural pond, an abundance of flowers and greenery, and a glistening stretch of white sand are just a taste of the gorgeousness that graces this beach. Keep scrolling for more!
See, we weren’t kidding about it taking your breath away!
We’re ecstatic to begin capturing real Maui wedding photography and glowing couples this August! Special thanks to Dellables, Salon 253, and the Trinity Episcopal Church by-the-Sea for helping to turn this styled shoot into a reality!
