Some Big Island proposal portraits are meticulously planned. Some are spontaneous. And then there are the ones that feel like they’ve been written by the universe itself with a hidden photographer, a perfectly timed rain shower, and the kind of magic that makes you believe in forever.
Kerwin pulled off exactly that for their Big Island proposal portrait.
Tana thought it was just another beautiful walk on the Big Island, breezy, casual, romantic in that effortless way Hawaii always is. What she didn’t know? Our photographer was secretly hiding in the bushes (like a stealthy love paparazzo), camera-ready. Kerwin paused, turned toward her, and dropped to one knee.
Cue the gasp. Cue the wide eyes. And cue the absolutely adorable “is this really happening?!” moment. (Spoiler: it was.) She said yes, of course she did!
Showered With Love
The rain, as if summoned by the spirit of every romantic movie ever made, fell just after their Big Island proposal portrait like a quiet applause. And instead of ducking for cover or worrying about their hair (which, for the record, looked amazing even in the mist), they embraced it. Tana leaned into Kerwin, and he wrapped his arms around her as the rain gently fell around them.
And just when we thought the moment couldn’t be more cinematic, a light sprinkle of rain started falling. Not a downpour, just a soft, celebratory mist, like nature wanted to add its own “congratulations” to the moment. And Kerwin and Tana? They didn’t mind one bit. They laughed, hugged, and let the rain fall around them like confetti.
Then, as if the Big Island wasn’t done showing off, the clouds parted to reveal the dreamiest pink sunset. The sky glowed. The ocean shimmered. The water turned this unreal shade of turquoise and every photo looked like it belonged on a postcard.
