Joy The Kimball Family’s Big Island Family Photographer

There is something extra special about photographing a family you have known for years, and the Kimballs officially have history with us. As a Big Island Family Photographer, getting to welcome this California crew back after first photographing them in 2011 felt a little like opening a favorite book and discovering there are brand-new chapters. They arrived at Old Kona Airport full of energy, affection, and the kind of easy laughter that makes our job ridiculously fun. Their blues and whites looked gorgeous against the palms, soft greenery, and open fields, giving the whole session that effortlessly coordinated island feel.

Then, of course, Kona decided to show off. We traded the greenery for the rocky shoreline and sparkling ocean, letting everyone walk, cuddle, laugh, and simply enjoy being together. There were sweet moments between couples, plenty of family snuggles, and even a dreamy sunset kiss glowing in the last light of the evening. As the sky softened into shades of pink, peach, and blue, the Kimballs somehow matched the scenery perfectly without even trying.

Getting to photograph this family again 15 years later is the kind of full-circle moment we absolutely love. So much can change between family portraits, yet the joy and connection between the Kimball’s came through in every frame. Thank you for coming back to us and letting us capture another chapter together. We hope these photos bring you right back to this beautiful Big Island evening for many, many years to come.
