There are photo sessions that make you smile, and then there are ones like the Mooneys’ Big Island family portrait that make you want to smile. Because this crew? Absolutely sweet.
This radiant gathering of love and laughter featured not just one, but three families: the Mooneys, the Selbys, and the Joneses. What began nine years ago at a vet clinic (cue the start of every great rom-com: strong women in scrubs, bonding over barking dogs and cat charts) turned into lifelong friendship. Meredith (Jones), Samantha (Selby), and Ashlyn (Mooney) met while working in veterinary medicine, and even though their careers evolved, hello, RN life…their bond is as strong as ever…
This was their first time on the Big Island, though they all partied it up in Maui back in 2022 for the Mooney wedding—also with us! (Welcome back, friends!) Old Kona Airport Beach set the stage with its signature mix of lava rock drama and breezy golden light. We captured each individual family, laughing, hugging, and then grouped them up for some bestie-magic moments. The kids were adorable, the adults looked amazing, and everyone radiated that special kind of joy that only comes from vacationing with your chosen family.
It was equal parts emotional and hilarious, and honestly, that’s the best kind of session. Here’s to milestone memories and beautiful friendships! It was a joy to capture your Big Island family portrait!
They had the perfect backdrop: soft waves, palm trees and just enough breeze. It was endearing to see three close families share a special moment in Hawaii. These portraits weren’t just pretty, they were memories frozen in time!
We hope these portraits bring a little Hawaii sunshine to your homes for years to come!
