As Maui wedding photographers, we’re always eager to capture beauty behind the lens. So when Simple Maui Wedding introduced the King Kamehameha Golf Club as their newest Maui wedding venue, we were thrilled to help capture a styled-shoot on the legendary estate!
The golf club is a hybrid of two authentic Frank Loyd Wright blueprints (circa 1950), including one designed for the one-and-only Marilyn Monroe. Completed in 1993, this property has an authentic art deco style with the up-to-date utilities of a modern complex. Located on the slopes of West Maui Mountains and featuring breathtaking bi-coastal views, the King Kamehameha Golf Club is an unparalleled central Maui gem.
The ceremony shoot took place on the Kahalawai terrace on the west side of the property. To complement the art deco feel, our good friends from Dellables custom created an arch out of glistening copper pipes. We were mesmerized by the stylized structure and striking geometric patterns. Maui wedding photography doesn’t get much more dynamic than this!
But Dellables wasn’t done with just the arch. They also brought their A-game with the floral! To highlight the Great Gatsby vibes, Dellables created gorgeous arrangements from long-stalked white calla lilies. With monstera and tropical foliage accents, these drops of eye-candy perfectly melded the throw-back feel of the venue with the lush beauty of Maui.
Our bride for this styled Maui wedding photography was the gorgeous model and actress Kiah Ward. Striking poses worthy of Monroe herself, we were in photographer bliss as we clicked away. With panoramic views, unparalleled floral and ceremony design, and a model who outshines the Maui sun, we couldn’t have asked for a better styled-shoot!
The team at Salon253 pulled out all the stops and adorned Kiah with their spectacular makeup artistry. With a strong eye and soft lip, our model was glowing in retro glam.
Elly’s Formal Wear provided a gown that perfectly complemented the art deco vibes with crystal-like beading sewn in geometric designs. We were beyond impressed with how the whole look pulled together to create a striking impression that highlighted the beauty of our model as well as the venue.
Following the ceremony, we took a short stroll to the opposite end of the property to the Hoapili Gardens to capture styled Maui wedding photography against the water feature. Reminiscent of the nearby ‘Iao Valley, this stunningly designed waterfall and stream seamlessly blend into the Maui backdrop.
Like all Frank Loyd Wright architectural designs, this venue boasts unique lighting features. Circular inlaid windows are prominent design aspects throughout the building. The options for Maui wedding photography at this venue are endless!
