Being a Maui photographer means we get to meet families from all over the world. But there’s something special about working with clients from our own island! The Takais are an adorable Maui family who are so kind and photogenic — they are a dream to photograph!

We met the Takais last week for a photo shoot at Kanaha Beach. It was a clear, beautiful morning with a shining family — check out some of our favorite shots below!

Finally Photographed

This was the first time the Takais had gotten professional portraits since their youngest Amara was born, so this session with a Maui photographer was past due!

However, we met some of this crew earlier this year when oldest Kaycee got senior portraits in Maui. We were instantly smitten with this bright, beautiful teen, so we were excited to meet the rest of her family.

Turns out, the entire Takai Ohana is a joy! They were all smiles as they enjoyed their time on the beach. The age gaps between Kaycee, Zane, and Amara makes their bond even more special. You can tell they’re a tight-knit family full of love and laughter.

Their energy was contagious! Being the Takais’s Maui Photographer was such a great honor, and we’re thrilled to share these images with them now!

A Maui Photographer for a Morning Session

The Takai family chose a morning session for their portraits. We met them at Kanaha Beach before the wind and waves rolled in, so it was a calm and scenic setting for their photo shoot. 

It’s also a popular beach where local families hang out on the weekend, and the Takais have many fond memories here, so it was a great spot to slow down and get these frameable photos for them. 

Being their Maui photographer was an absolute dream!
