If ever a family knew how to embrace a season of life, with matching joy and chaos—it’s the Toners.
When this sweet family told us they were coming back to their favorite island for a Kauai family portrait session, we knew it was going to be something special. Add in the fact that they just welcomed surprise twins—yes, twins!—two months ago, and we’re basically talking about superhumans in vacation mode.
The Toners live in Nashville, but they’ve long held a soft spot for the lush, golden shores of Hawaii. So it felt poetic that this trip also included a pair of VIP guests: their parents, who hadn’t been to Hawaii in 25 years! (Cue all the sentimental full-circle feelings.)
Our photographer met them at Anini Beach, where the skies were dreamy, the breeze was soft, and the ocean seemed to know this was a moment worth showing up for. It was family time at its finest: barefoot giggles, tiny baby yawns, and grandparents soaking up snuggles from their grandkids with that look in their eyes that says, “Remember this.”
The Toners wanted a mix of everything, just the seven of them, grandparents with the little ones, and, of course, the whole crew together. And the result? Pure magic. Light, bright, joy-drenched images that feel as golden as their time together. It meant so much to their parents, too, who haven’t been here in 25 years!
This wasn’t just a Kauai family portrait. It was a celebration of life’s beautiful unpredictability, of close bonds, of first times and returns. And above all, of the kind of love that fills a frame and then some!
How adorable are these portraits? So tiny, so precious! These Kauai family portraits remind us just how precious life and moments like these are! The golden light made it feel even more special…
Toners, thank you for letting us capture your story in this sweet, whirlwind season. You make nine look pretty amazing. We hope you have the best time! May these relaxed, candid moments hold space in your hearts and on your walls at home forever!
