What’s better than gifts under the Christmas tree? A surprise trip to Maui over Christmas vacation with a Maui family portrait session to commemorate it! That is what Hollie & Dustin did for their 5 kids. We love the idea of having a vacation experience over gifts in our family as well.
Hollie and Dustin didn’t tell any of their kids about their epic holiday family plans. They had the younger kids do a scavenger hunt to find the clues to surprise them with their vacation arrangements. The older kids were asked to take time off from work but weren’t told about this family vacation secret. What an exciting surprise for the holidays! To go along with the gift of travel, they also decided to remember a holiday trip with a super funny portrait experience on one of the most beautiful beaches on Maui.
That Soft Dreamy Light
Hollie wanted a morning family portrait in Maui with soft pastel light so we suggested an earlier start time. To get that soft pastel lighting we had to start a little earlier than as normal session before the sun was totally up. The photos turned out stunning as it was an absolutely beautiful morning at Baldwin Beach Park. The other benefit to earlier start time is you have the beach almost to yourself.
This awesome family had just arrived in Maui the day before and were so excited for all the adventuring in store. It was evident in our time with them that they are an energetic group that loves the company of each other. We were so honored to capture that energy and love for them!
