Though they’ve been to Maui and Kauai more times than they can count, this trip was their first time on the Big Island, and what better way to mark it than with updated family photos? With their daughter now 24, it was the perfect moment to pause and savor this chapter of life, toes in the sand and hearts wide open…
The Perfect Setting
Pauoa Bay was a dream backdrop. The kind of place where the light is soft, the ocean hums gently in the background, and every photo feels like it belongs in a coffee table book. (Or, at the very least, a very proud parent’s holiday card!) It couldn’t have been more picturesque for a Big Island family portrait!
Our style for this shoot leaned into exactly what makes family portraits sing: a blend of effortless styling and authentic candids. We gently guided the Sullivans through soft poses and natural movement, hand-holding, laughing, and hugging so every frame felt like them. And spoiler: they absolutely nailed it!
The soft neutral outfits? Perfection. The golden hour light dancing on their skin? Magic. The connection between all three of them? Unmistakable. This was such a special vacation for them, so to have it frozen in time in these portraits means the world.
