There’s something about the Wyatt’s Big Island family portrait that feels like a warm hug. Visiting Hawaii for the third time in four years (their second trip to the Big Island), they already knew the magic awaiting them! But this trip was different. Celebrating 40 years of marriage, they brought their adult kids along for a laid-back family getaway, one that whispered of future retirements and current joy.
And oh, did Pauoa Beach deliver! Golden light spilling across the sand, swaying palms framing the horizon, and laughter. The Wyatts wanted exactly what every family secretly wants: that “OMG” moment that captures connection in its purest form. The stolen glances, the hand squeezes, the effortless way they belong to one another. And that’s exactly what they got with their session with us!

Between easy moments and smiles, they walked barefoot in the sand, holding hands like it was the most natural thing in the world. There were quiet kisses for the couple of honor, sweet smiles between siblings, and the kind of relaxed energy that comes from being exactly where you’re supposed to be.
It wasn’t just a Big Island family portrait session. It was a love letter to 40 years of choosing each other, to dreams of what’s next. The Big Island, with its wild beauty and calm waters, gave them the perfect backdrop to celebrate life’s biggest milestone in the simplest way possible: together.

When we photograph families like the Wyatts, our style is all about authenticity. We chase those fleeting in-between moments, the hand squeezes, the soft smiles, the way their eyes crinkle with laughter. It’s not about stiff poses; it’s about telling their story in a way that feels timeless and true. The Wyatts wanted exactly what every family secretly wants: that “OMG” moment that shows their connection, and our goal is always to make those moments shine! Of course, we had a little help from the Big Island, just a little…

Here’s to the Wyatts, 40 years, countless adventures, and more family moments like this! Congrats!

Anniversaries have a way of sneaking up on you. One day you’re saying “I do,” and the next you’re standing barefoot on the beach, surrounded by your kids, trying to figure out why your son suddenly looks old enough to graduate. This is exactly why a Big Island family portrait is the best idea ever
