The Lydgate Beach Park set the stage for the Elmes’ one-of-a-kind Kauai family portraits! Tucked away on the east side of the island, this coastal shore is ideal for portraits with vivid morning light. Yet, as is so often the case with Hawaiian locales, the clouds shifted in the sky throughout our session and made for an abundance of lighting opportunities.

Whether set beneath the steal gray overcast skies or the vibrant warm sun of the tropics, the Elmes looked positively adorable in their Kauai family portraits! And we had a blast being their family photographer on Kauai!

Set against the cool tones of the ocean, we love how the overcast lighting gives these captures an otherworldly effect. And decked in shades to complement the churning sea, the Elmes Family looked positively magical!

But it didn’t take long for the shimmering Hawaiian sun to join the party! In fact, it seemed like everyone quickly got into a celebratory mood–even a local rooster tried to join in on the festivities! We love this portrait location in Kauai because of the rocks jutting out into the ocean, they add an eye-catching dynamic to photos.

We loved how the Elmes’ enjoyed playing on the sand and kicking up the warm Hawaiian tide! Kauai family portraits like these are truly a treasure. They freeze in time a moment of genuine joy, and we can’t stop smiling as we take in these happy faces!
