Fairy Kin – The Freeman Family’s Magical Portraits on Maui

The mother-daughter bond is nothing short of magical, so it seems only fitting that we captured the connection of the Freeman girls with a set of elegant and enchanting magical portraits on Maui. This powerful trio lives and breathes adventure: they’ve already been to the Haleakala creator (for sunrise AND sunset), they’ve learned to surf, and they went on this incredible photo session!

It began in the lush jungle of Honolua, where the sunlight filtered down from the canopy and washed the leaves in gold. Dressed in lavender and flower crowns, the Freemans brought their fairy-game. They kept their style simple; nothing but dewy complexions, goddess-worthy hair, and sunny smiles adorned these forest nymphs. Jennifer (also known as Mom) wanted to make this Maui trip as special as possible… and with a collection of photos as enchanting as these, it’s special and then some!

As they trekked into Honolua Jungle, Cheynice, our incredibly talented staff Photographer, used her well-trained eye to seek out the best spot for lighting and rugged backdrops. And she also brought out the swing! We love how this simple prop adds a fresh new dimension to these magical portraits on Maui. Keep scrolling for all the beautiful lighting and radiant faces!

When the sun drifted closer to the horizon and the sky was flooded with the soft, dreamy lighting of late afternoon, our mother-daughter trio ventured down to the shores of Ironwoods. And there, they were treated to a picnic of eye-candy (and cheese and fruit!) from our friends at Maui Luxe Picnics. The subtle tones of these shots are otherworldly… and so are the lovely faces!

Just when we thought this session couldn’t get more magical, the sky was washed in a silken lavender… and even a rainbow came out to say “Hello.”

But as gorgeous as these Maui magical portraits are, the real magic and beauty of the day was the bond between these amazing women and the memories they made on our adventure. After spending the day with them, Cheynice told Jennifer, “You deserve the mother of the year award, for sure!” And we wholeheartedly agree!
