Our Story Continues – The Kuhl’s Maui Family Portrait
Some families collect memories the way others collect souvenirs, trip after trip, year after year, stitched together with love, laughter, and sun-kissed moments. For the Kuhl family, their Maui family portrait session at DT Fleming Beach was the latest chapter in a story that began decades ago… and continues to grow more meaningful with time!
Hawaii has been woven into their family history from the moment Joel was just five years old. The rule was simple: be good citizens, get good grades, and you earn a return to Maui. And it worked because the boys not only thrived, they became best friends as well as brothers! And the island became their family’s happy place… We were honored to capture this next Maui chapter for them!
Chris and Jinhee honeymooned on Maui. Joel and Meredith were married on the beach near Mama’s Fish House. And now, here they all were again! Three generations, together on the shoreline they love! At the heart of it all are Bob and his wife, Kathleen, whose blind date the summer before high school blossomed into 61 years of marriage. Sixty-one years of choosing each other, choosing family, choosing joy!
The session felt like a celebration with the shimmering ocean, the soft trade winds, the warmth of sand beneath their feet. DT Fleming Beach wrapped them in its golden glow as they laughed and walked hand in hand down the beach.
Coming Together As One
It was so sweet to see every generation come together for such a special family vacation. Truly, moments like this are irreplaceable which is what makes a Maui family portrait so precious.
With Malia and Connor now college graduates, life may soon scatter them to new places, new dreams, new adventures. That’s what made this portrait session so meaningful, a moment when everyone was together, in the place they love most. Our photographer captured a mix of family combinations in some more traditional poses but then once everyone was all warmed up…the Kuhls shook things up as you’ll see!
