Some places hold more than just beauty; they hold history, meaning, and love. For the Mathieu family, that place is Maui. In 2010, it was where they exchanged vows and became husband and wife. In 2016, they returned with their first daughter for Maui family portraits, capturing the next chapter of their story. And now, nearly a decade later, they came back once again, this time as a family of four! Although they couldn’t visit Makena Cove due to high tide washing away the beach, Maluaka proved to be the perfect alternative, still beautifully capturing the essence of Makena.
Audrey and Maddie, strong and spirited sisters, were the stars of this session. Maddie, 12, with her love for dance, volleyball, and makeup, radiated poise and confidence. Audrey, 6, full of energy and admiration for her big sister, danced, sang, and played her way into every frame. Their bond was undeniable, sweet, playful, and full of laughter.
This trip to Maui was especially meaningful. Between school, sports, and fostering kittens, life back home is busy. Vacations become rare opportunities to slow down, reconnect, and simply be together.

The morning light at Maluaka was magical, washing the beach in vibrant hues as waves curled against the lava rocks. We captured posed portraits, candid giggles, and tender moments that felt like they belonged in a family album meant to last for generations. Their girls are so adorable together… Maddie totally is giving big sister vibes, and Audrey mirrored her fun, playful energy. Let’s be real: is there anything more special than returning to a place that holds so much meaning like Maui? These photos are proof of just that!

Mathieu family, your session was more than a photoshoot; it was a milestone! Congratulations on 14 beautiful years of marriage and on raising two remarkable daughters. These portraits will forever hold the memory of how Maui witnessed your love story, first as newlyweds, then as new parents, and now, as a complete and radiant family of four! We hope you have so much fun with your girls! You clearly started off your vacation in the best way!
