About Time – The Montpellier’s Kauai Family Portrait

We were delighted to capture the Montpellier’s Kauai family portrait! Ben and his family have been lucky enough to visit the Hawaiian islands several times, but this is extra special. Kauai is their favorite (hello, stunning landscapes and killer sunsets!), and this trip marks a first for his brother Mac, his wife Kelly, their adorable son Cooper, and my parents Sooz and Richard. For the first time since the pre-pandemic days, they are all together, three generations deep, on a family vacation—and they were not taking it for granted!

This isn’t just any family trip. It’s their first time traveling with both grandkids, now nearly 2 and 3 years old, who are bound to make any trip 100x more fun—and chaotic. So, he decided to gift the family a special memory that will last beyond the trip: a professional family portrait session!

They chose the stunning Shipwrecks Beach for the location. If you’ve ever been there, you know the dramatic cliffs and soft golden sand make it feel like a scene straight out of a postcard (or Jurassic Park, if you ask Ben). It was the perfect backdrop for capturing our wild and wonderful crew!

The session was all about the whole family, with a focus on parents with the kids, of course! We also snuck in a few shots of the individual couples and families. The result? Gorgeous, high-quality images that truly capture this time in their lives—healthy, happy, and together.

From the giggles to the sand in our toes, these photos are going to be the perfect way to remember a family vacation they will cherish forever. It’s not every day you get to celebrate three generations in paradise! Here’s to making memories, one sunset at a time! Aloha!
