We have been offering Magical Children’s Portraits for some time now and we get asked from time to time if we offer more than just Magical Portraits for kids, what about a Magical Maui Family Portrait, or Magical Engagement Portrait?! Well, you asked and we answered our very first Magical Maui Family Portrait! A magical portrait is more styled than our typical, show up as you are and shoot gorgeous photos kind thing. It’s taking it to that next level, styling the shoot to create some real magic and of course, still capturing gorgeous photos!
So the backstory on this magical shoot and this magical VW Bus is this:
If you haven’t guessed already, with a name like Karma, yes my parents were hippies and my dad has all these great stories of traveling around in a VW bus in the 70’s so I have always had an affinity to these cute but (ugly) vehicles. I have been jonesing to do a styled VW shoot for YEARS and one day I get a message on Instagram from this ahhhhh-mazing lady named Tara who just started a business with her VW bus named Miss Maven asking me if I wanted to collaborate on a photoshoot. It’s like all the stars aligned and she found me at just the right moment because everything just fell into place with this shoot!
When thinking about who should be our guinea pigs.. ahem, MODELS the Prouty family came to my mind first. Speaking of next level, this is the family that you wish you could be. Successful business owners, amazing parents, ridiculously good looking, avid surfers and about as kind and caring as they come. When I think VW bus on Maui, I think SURF BUS and I knew the Prouty’s would be the perfect fit with their love for the ocean. They even brought a rare vintage board of their own that added to the shoot so well!
