Some proposals don’t need grand gestures to feel extraordinary. They need intention, honesty, and a moment that belongs entirely to two people. Nolan’s Maui proposal portrait for Olivia was exactly that, even with a thoughtful setup waiting quietly near the beach. At Wailea Beach, he led her to a simple, romantic scene: a blanket laid out with roses, soft and understated, letting Hawaii’s natural beauty do the talking.
Olivia is someone who doesn’t love being the center of attention, especially in public, but has the kind of presence that feels calm and genuine. Nolan shares that same simplicity. They wanted this moment to feel private and meaningful, not over-the-top, just deeply theirs. After two and a half years together, traveling all across the country for Nolan’s baseball, sharing long drives, great meals, quiet shopping days, and peaceful moments in between, this proposal felt like a natural next step.
Their love has been built in motion. They met at Oklahoma State University. Fourteen-hour drives from Oklahoma to Michigan. Summer ball trips from the Cape back home. Sweet, simple memories like making homemade heart-shaped pizzas on Valentine’s Day or celebrating their first anniversary on Mackinac Island. Even their beginning feels woven together; Olivia’s dad was Nolan’s college baseball coach, and Nolan played baseball with her cousin in high school. Life had been aligning them long before they realized it. And now it was time to turn the next page in their love story…

As Nolan got down on one knee on the blanket, Olivia’s joy was immediate! After she said yes, their family arrived to celebrate alongside them! Hugs, happy tears, and shared smiles filled the setting with warmth. The portraits that followed captured exactly what they hoped for: pure emotion, natural beauty, and a moment they’ll look back on as one of the happiest of their lives.

Next, the happy couple went to Wailea Beach and took some soft, beautiful portraits to celebrate. This was such a special moment for them, and they totally basked in the moment! We are so happy for them, they are the cutest! Maui is THE perfect place to pop the question simply because of the natural beauty!

Congratulations, Nolan and Olivia! Your beginning was beautifully simple and full of love!

Some milestones deserve more than a dinner reservation or a quiet toast; they deserve a moment that feels as meaningful as the years behind it. The Bonte family chose to celebrate their 30th anniversary with a Maui family portrait at Southside Beach, and it was the kind of decision that instantly made sense. Soft light,
