As a Maui proposal photographer, some moments make our hearts do a little somersault, and this was one of them. Zach and Amy’s story is equal parts witty banter and slow-burn romance (or at least Amy swears it was never officially labeled “dating”). According to her, Zach just… never asked. According to him, she moved in during the pandemic, they got a dog, and voilà, roommate for life! This is their loving running joke between them of how it all started.
Four years later, Zach decided to turn the page of their romance in the most swoon-worthy way possible at Baldwin Beach. Amy kind of suspected a proposal might happen on this trip, but she didn’t know when or how. So when Zach, ever the design enthusiast, pulled out a custom ring in an architectural-inspired box (crafted by the same creators who made Taylor Swift’s ring, no big deal), the moment felt like one straight out of a movie.

And then, because the universe loves good timing, sea turtles appeared, as if to witness their “yes.” Cue the collective ‘OMG, this is fate!’ gasp! Our sweet couple was hoping to see some turtles on that trip, and little did they know they would witness the moment too! Of course, Amy said yes. She said it with emotions written all over her face, brimming with laughter bubbling over, with that breathless smile that only happens when you realize the person you’ve built a life with just asked you to choose forever.

Our photography style thrives on moments like these, unscripted, joy-filled, entirely real. So we let them be themselves: hugging, laughing, stealing kisses, and looking at each other like no one else existed. No stiff poses, just the kind of candids that feel like memories bottled up in sunshine.

Zach and Amy’s proposal wasn’t just a yes; it was a promise, wrapped in humor, sealed with love, and caught forever in the sand and sea of Maui. Congratulations to you both!
